Bolton's view on Obama's Policies

Video - Bolton: 'I’d Reverse all of Obama’s Policies'

John Bolton continued to unload on the Obama Administration, saying that they should “get rid of the illusion that [Iran and North Korea] would negotiate away their nuclear programs.” In fact, in the second part of the former UN ambassador’s exclusive interview with HUMAN EVENTS, Bolton maintained that Barack’s official policy toward the mullahs in the Middle East is, “Iran will get nuclear weapons and we’ll contain them.”

That position, Bolton noted, would set off a “multi-polar nuclear Middle East” with “half a dozen nuclear weapon states, each looking at the other one every day and saying, ‘I wonder if I should strike him before he strikes me.’ ”

Bolton also brushed aside any notions that the United States should posture toward Iran they same way we treated the Soviet Union: threaten an all-out military assault if nuclear weapons are used against America. “Say what you want of the Soviets and their atheism, they did believe they only went around once on earth and they weren’t about to throw that around too lightly. The people running Tehran now view life in the hereafter as a lot more desirable than life on earth, and that is a very difficult mentality to contain and deter.”

“The notion that an Iran with nuclear weapons would not be that different than the Soviet Union I think is based on a fundamental misperception of the differences of the Cold War-era Soviet Union and the Iran of Today,” Bolton concluded.
